The Linear Metro has started to run in Tokyo, dramatically increasing the network effects of urban transport as a new artery

" Linear Metro " has started to run in Tokyo on the Toei - Oedo Line so called " subway Yamanote Line ". The line connects with many places and the existing railway lines.
Traffic conditions in the capital city was close to the state of saturation and the birth of linear Metro has long been awaited. Inexpensiveness of construction cost, flexibility of a route alignment, and capability of running on the steep curves are the main features which make it suitable for subway construction of Tokyo.
The first section between Nerima - Shinjuku 9.1km opened in 1997 followed by the section between Hikarigaoka - Nerima 3.8km of the radiation section opened in 1991 . In 2000 , 27.8km section from Shinjuku to Tochomae via National Stadium, Roppongi, Daimon Tsukishima, New Okachimachi, Iidabashi opened, spanning the entire length of 40.7km, the longest single subway line in Japan
